Eligibility Requirements For Students In Universities
As an overseas student wishing to Study in Australia, you must ensure that you meet the following eligibility requirements to receive a student visa:
Enrol in a study program and provide evidence
Your Australian student visa application must include proof of enrolment, which is often accessible in one of the following formats:
- CoE, or Confirmation of Enrollment, is sent to students who have been accepted for full-time courses that are registered on CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students).
- Packaged courses and CoEs: If you are applying for more than one course, your visa application must include all of the CoE codes, or your student visa will only cover the term of residence for the indicated CoE.
- You may apply for two or more courses, with one course leading to the next. The time between the start of the two courses should not be more than two months. When the first course closes at the end of the academic year and the next course begins at the start of the next academic year, the gap time is waived.
- Letter of Support: If you are admitted to a full-time study or training program sponsored by the Australian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade scholarship programs, you may submit your letter of support as proof of enrolment.
- Similarly, if you are receiving funding from the Australian Department of Defense, you can apply for a student visa with your letter of support.
- Acceptance Advice for Secondary Exchange Students (AASES): Students considering an exchange degree from Australia might include this in their application.
- Letter from Instructor: PG students who need to stay in Australia while their thesis is being graded must present a letter from their educator confirming this.
For subclass 500 student visas, applicants must keep the following documents with them during the time of application, for instance;
- A valid passport
- National identity card/Driver’s License (in some cases)
- Biometrics
- Recent photographs
- Application form for Australia Student visa (must be signed)
- Confirmation letter of enrollment (CoE) in any institute containing details of courses and study plan. Please keep in mind to submit a valid CoE, in case of the expiry date your student visa may get cancelled.
- Letter of support, if;
- A student is sponsored by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
- A student is sponsored by the Department of Defense.
- Secondary exchange students must submit an Acceptance Advice of Secondary Exchange Student Form.
- Postgraduate research students who are meant to stay in Australia after their study program is completed and need to complete their thesis must provide a letter from their education provider.
- Parental consent for bringing a child under 18 years of age with you to Australia without another parent.
- Civil Documents (birth certificate/marriage certificate/divorce papers/adoption papers)
- Health Insurance.
- Evidence of Financial Capacity. You must provide present proof of your enough financial funds to support your 1 year of living in Australia with all other expenses including tuition fees.

- Genuine Temporary Entrant stating that you don’t intend to overstay in Australia and will leave the country as soon your visa expires.

What are the financial requirements to get an Australian student visa?
To get your student visa you must prove that you have the funds to cover your course fees, travel, and living costs. Based on rules that are effective from February 2018, you must prove that you have funds as indicated by the government to cover your living costs. This does not include your tuition and travel costs.
If you have dependents, you should prove that you have the funds to cover their living costs including school fees for your children.
